These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Own Your Narrative platform at ownyournarrative.co.uk. By creating an account or accessing the platform, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Who We Are

Own Your Narrative Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (Company No: 17066279). Our registered office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. We operate the book subscription platform at ownyournarrative.co.uk.

2. Your Account

Creating an account

You must be 18 or over to create an account. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are legally able to enter into this agreement.

Account security

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at contact@ownyournarrative.co.uk.

One account per person

Each account is for individual use only. You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent tier limits.

3. Access Tiers and Book Allowance

How the allowance works

Each tier provides a monthly book allowance. You may add any books from our full catalogue up to your monthly allowance. You choose which books — we do not restrict your selection within the catalogue.

• Tier 1 — Reader: 4 books per month, free
• Tier 2 — Enthusiast: 7 books per month, free
• Tier 3 — Contributor: Unlimited books, free
• Premium — Private Reader: Unlimited books plus early access, £4.99 per month

Carry-over

Unused monthly allowance carries over indefinitely while your account remains active. Your accumulated library belongs to your active account.

Upgrades

You may upgrade your tier at any time. On upgrading, your new monthly allowance is added to your account immediately — no pro-rata calculation, no waiting for your next billing cycle.

Downgrades

If you downgrade to a lower tier, your accumulated library is preserved in full. However, you may only add new books up to your new tier’s monthly allowance going forward.

Always free: “Are You The Product?”

The book “Are You The Product?” is permanently free on every tier, including Premium. It does not count toward your monthly allowance and requires no account to read.

4. Premium Subscription

Billing

Premium is billed monthly at £4.99 per month. Payment is processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing to Premium, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.

Price increases

The Premium price will increase annually as the library grows. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any price change. If you do not cancel before the new price takes effect, you will be charged the new rate.

Cancellation

You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain Premium access until the period ends.

5. Content and Intellectual Property

All books and content on the Own Your Narrative platform are protected by copyright. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to read content on the platform. You may not:

• Download, copy, or reproduce any content from the platform
• Share access to content with others
• Use content for commercial purposes
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract content from the platform

6. Data and Privacy

Your use of the platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By accepting these terms, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

Free tier users (Tiers 1–3) consent to the collection and use of anonymised reading behaviour data as described in the Privacy Policy. This consent is given by choosing a free tier at registration.

Premium users consent only to the processing necessary to operate their account and process payments.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the platform in any way that:

• Violates any applicable law or regulation
• Infringes the rights of any third party
• Attempts to gain unauthorised access to the platform or other users’ accounts
• Interferes with the operation of the platform
• Creates multiple accounts to circumvent tier allowances

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

8. Liability

Own Your Narrative Ltd provides the platform on an “as is” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the platform and accept no liability for temporary outages or technical issues beyond our reasonable control.

Our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Changes to the Platform

We reserve the right to add, remove, or modify books and features on the platform. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes that affect your access.

If we ever close the platform permanently, we will give at least 30 days’ notice and provide a pro-rata refund to Premium subscribers for any unused paid period.

10. Disputes

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us at contact@ownyournarrative.co.uk in the first instance. We will attempt to resolve any dispute within 30 days through direct communication.

If we are unable to resolve the dispute directly, it will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
